The sword “sting” used by both Bilbo and Frodo in the Hobbit and LOTR. Bilbo names his sword Sting after single-handedly slaying a giant spider in Mirkwood to rescue the dwarves. It glows blue whenever Orcs or Goblins are nearby.
The Elvish writing engraved on the sword translates to: "Sting is my name; I am the spider's bane."
